10 Best eCommerce Blogs of 2016

Content marketing is a hugely important tool to not only boost SEO, but also acquire new customers.  In fact, small businesses that blog receive 126% more lead growth than those that do not.  If you can establish your eCommerce blog as a place where your users can go for industry insight, trends, tips and new product launches, you’ll be on your way to gaining a larger audience and also engaging more of your current client base.  However, the first step, aside from your own website, is to become educated about the industry.  The best way to do that: visit other company’s blogs!

Blogs are becoming the source for how consumers research strategies, products and services online.  In fact, 81% of US online consumers trust information and advice from blogs.  Further, by 2020 customers will manage 85% of their relationships without talking to a human, gaining much of their knowledge from online resources, like blogs.

Here at Poln, we’ve put together a list of the 10 Best eCommerce blogs of 2016 to help you in your continued research and to serve as inspiration for your own blog and business practices.  Happy reading!

1. Shopify

Shopify runs, without a doubt, one of the Internet's best eCommerce blogs.  We really enjoy reading the articles as they include a wide mix of topics that range from advertising and marketing online, technical assistance, app reviews, motivational lifestyle posts, and client success stories.  Their staff of content writers are top-notch and are there to address any questions you might have after reading.

2. HubSpot

The blog that started all blogs.  Not quite, but they are awesome!  Their blog posts focus on the sales and marketing aspects of the business and are a goldmine for helpful industry statistics and insights that you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere else.  While not specifically eCommerce related, their articles will give you a great look into patterns across the internet and where they are going in the future.  Well done, Hubspot!

3. A Better Lemonade Stand

A Better Lemonade Stand Blog was started by a former Shopify content writer.  We’re happy to report this site is a great resource for all things eCommerce.  We’ve seen a great focus on more technical writing and breaking down the posts so even beginners can grasp and benefit from the content.

4. MailChimp

MailChimp, as you likely know, is email marketing royalty.  Their blog focuses on topics that relate to this and helping customers get the most out of their email marketing campaigns, in turn leading them to greater customer retention.  They are a business specializing in a crucial part of the marketing funnel and their blog doesn’t fall short.

5. Bootstrapping eCommerce

Shabbir Nooruddin started Bootstrapping eCommerce Blog to educate customers who don’t have millions of dollars to spend on how they can still effectively run their online business.  His topics focus on SEO, PPC, Social media and beyond.  Online shops of all sizes can get a huge benefit from reading the posts on Bootstrapping.

6. Ad Age

Coming in at a bit of a departure from other blogs on this list, we believe the Ad Age Blog is still a wealthy source of information and hugely helpful if you’re running an online business.  Although it can skew more towards brands and lifestyle than specific eCommerce writing, it’s still a great way to stay up to date with industry trends.

7. eCommerce Fuel Blog

eCommerce Fuel Blog is a general blog that addresses a wide range of topics in the space.  We like that the blog provides a little bit of everything for the user and it’s a great place to get started if you’re just trying to get your feet wet.

8. The Kissmetrics Blog

This blog is heavily analytics driven, focusing on consumer insights and leveraging data to help your business grow.  Give it a read through.  You won’t be disappointed!

9. Nerd Marketing
