Online advertising is encased in a web of mystery that is infuriating, complicated or requires a computer science degree.
However, measuring effectiveness of marketing and advertising is a necessity. If you don’t know what’s performing, there’s no way to effectively increase performance.
While the options are endless, here are a few of our favorite tools to measure performance:
- Google Analytics - As the world’s leading analytics tool, this free service allows you to track not just conversions and visitors, but also details that can help you improve your offering. Want to see what’s more popular on your site - Android or iOS? Want to learn how many visitors are coming in from Australia? Want to analyze the effectiveness of your marketing? Google Analytics can handle it all.
- MailChimp - Perhaps the simplest email marketing and automation system for retail, social and even products. If you’re reading this via email, it was proudly sent via MailChimp. MailChimp allows you to create an email flow that allows for simple, easy and automated communication.
- Buffer - Social has become a necessary medium of communication for every brand, large and small. Buffer allows you to schedule content, create content and automatically post across LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and more! Their free tool, Pablo, allows you to create beautiful images for Instagram as well.
- IFTTT - Want to automate everything? Seems like IFTTT can actually be the solution! IFTTT stands for “If this then that.” IFTTT looks for certain actions (ex: uploading a photo to Facebook) and then executes a second command based on that action. So you can create a function that automatically posts an image to Twitter as soon as it is posted on Facebook. Easy, simple and no code required!
These are all unique tools but they serve the same purpose - measuring effectiveness without being a software engineer.
